Yes, we love to travel, and our latest development project took us to Edinburgh. After a year and a half of hard work, we’ve successfully completed a major development for WDF at Edinburgh Airport. From the initial design phase to engaging with local authorities and managing all stakeholders, this was a project that demanded careful planning and seamless execution.

A Live Environment Challenge
This new WDF main store was delivered within a live environment, meaning we had to closely interact with airport framework teams to ensure everything ran smoothly. The project involved not only the main store but also two new extensions, making it a complex and ambitious undertaking.
Seamless Relocation and Phase Delivery
One of the key challenges was relocating the entire till banks and exit without disrupting either the airport or the unit operations. To achieve this, we split the works into phases, allowing us to carry out the vast programme while maintaining smooth operations. Each phase was carefully planned to ensure minimal disruption to the airport environment and operations.
Essential Planning for Success
A lot of planning went into delivering this fantastic development for WDF, and it was absolutely essential for the success of the project. With so many moving parts, ensuring that every detail was thought through made all the difference in achieving amazing results. This careful coordination and execution were key to making sure that everything came together as planned.
A Rewarding Task in Our Sky Office
This project is just one of many tasks that we enjoy at Sideland. The opportunity to plan and deliver such a complex development in a live environment is always rewarding. And what better way to dedicate ourselves to this thinking than from our “sky office” — an inspiring place that fuels our passion for delivering successful projects like this one.
