The Sidings Waterloo, formerly the Eurostar section of Waterloo station, has been transformed into a vibrant destination offering retail, food and beverage, and a range of experiences. With high footfall, there was an evident need for a robust public WiFi system to allow customers to check train times, send messages, and enjoy a fast, secure connection throughout the area.

At Sideland, we took the initiative to design, coordinate, and implement a high-speed, secure WiFi network tailored to the unique requirements of The Sidings Waterloo. Our dedicated team delivered a system that not only provides excellent internet speeds and extensive coverage—even reaching challenging areas such as the outdoor curve—but also features a user-friendly captive portal that requires only an email address to log in. This solution was crafted with the digital needs of today’s consumers in mind, ensuring a seamless and secure online experience.

We faced several challenges during the project, and Sideland was at the forefront of every solution. Integrating the BT fibre intake was a complex task that we managed by building a significant contingency into our schedule, ensuring the installation remained on track. In addition, we worked closely with LCR to address privacy and security requirements, developing a tailored privacy policy that perfectly suited The Sidings Waterloo.

Key Highlights:

  • High-Speed, Secure Connectivity: Sideland delivered fast and secure internet access to over 25,000 users since project completion.

  • Extensive Coverage: Our system ensures broad WiFi coverage throughout The Sidings, including outdoor areas such as the curve.

  • User-Friendly Access: The captive portal, requiring only an email address for login, provides effortless connectivity.

  • Effective Problem Solving: Sideland adeptly managed the technical challenge of integrating the BT fibre intake and resolved privacy concerns through proactive collaboration with LCR.

  • Tailored Approach: Our team's expertise and commitment to quality have set a new benchmark in public connectivity solutions.

Working with Partners:

Sideland led the project by working alongside key partners. LCR provided the overall vision as our client, ACS brought their extensive site knowledge to manage the installation and cabling, and PerformanceNetworks supplied the equipment, software, and 24/7 support.

We are proud to have played a pivotal role in transforming The Sidings Waterloo into a digitally connected destination. Our commitment to innovation and quality has paved the way for an enhanced customer experience and future opportunities in public connectivity.
