London and Continental Railways, a new client for Sideland, reached out following a recommendation from High Speed 1. They needed an experienced team capable of delivering in a busy, complex environment. Our appointment to develop the Sidings @ Waterloo Station marked the beginning of a significant and enduring partnership built on trust and expertise.

Project Background & Objectives
Our role encompassed:
Technical and Site Management Services: Delivering comprehensive support for the development of tenant fit-outs.
General Project Coordination: Overseeing small to medium-sized related projects for London and Continental Railways (LCR).
Key Responsibilities
Location: Waterloo Station.
Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinating with all stakeholders and control authorities.
Document Preparation:
Approvals
Technical standards
Site logistics, deliveries, and waste management
Site inductions and compliance standards
Access & Safety: Managing limitations of access, site safety reviews, and ensuring technical compliance.
Project Handover: Overseeing the handover and commissioning, along with asset integration.
Design & Technical Approach
Working with existing project documentation and LCR systems, our approach focused on integration and life cycle coordination. We started with an 'As Is' review to create a bespoke system of control and management for LCR. An agile online system was developed to quickly involve both existing and potential tenants, as well as suppliers. Coordination with stakeholders allowed this system to go live and evolve with the project. This seamless process now guides tenants from feasibility through to handover, ensuring ongoing asset integration and support even after tenants have opened.
Collaboration & Coordination
Our use of online induction and approval systems has significantly reduced both time and costs associated with bringing a project to site. By inducting each operative via our dedicated portal, we have improved overall standards. Our extensive experience in travel retail has equipped us to manage uncertainty effectively, going the extra mile to maintain clear communication and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
Project Outcome & Key Highlights
We continue to work collaboratively with LCR at Waterloo Station, solidifying an enduring partnership. To date, our team has played a pivotal role in the development of the Sidings, which is rapidly evolving into a desirable, vibrant destination. The project not only serves travellers and tourists but also enhances the south bank community by creating an inviting space for both work and leisure.
